Mike Shopmeyer -   My wife, Princesa and I are from Oregon and we began vacationing in Mexico in the mid 1990's.  Each time we came on vacation, we stayed longer than the last, until we found ourselves staying for months rather than weeks.  During yet another long vacation here in 2002, we thought of returning to Oregon, selling our home and small business and coming to Playa for a full year's vacation in order to get Playa out of our system once and for all.  That thought became a reality in 2003 and incredibly, but quite explainably, we have called it our fulltime home ever since.

I began selling real estate here in late 2003 and spent eight very successful and rewarding years with Coldwell Banker before being invited to join the BuyPlaya group as an agent.  I feel very privileged to have joined such a professional company and dedicated group of fellow associates most of whom I have known since my early days in Playa. Carlos Martínez, is originally from the city of Leon, in the Mexican state of Guanajuato. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in International Trade from the University of La Salle.

His career path has taken him through various national and international companies. Some of his career highlights include several top-level positions in Mexico’s automotive industry and commercial advisory positions for several companies in Leon’s world-famous leather footwear manufacturing industry.

Carlos relocated to Playa del Carmen eight years ago where he has pursued a successful career in Playa del Carmen real estate sales, first as a real estate agent and later as a sales manager. As the sales manager for two of the Riviera Maya’s most reputable and prolific real estate developers, he has through diligence and perseverance, successfully sold-out several luxury condominium developments in this very competitive and challenging market.

With his great sense of responsibility and passion for real estate sales, Carlos Martínez, is devoted to integrating discretion and kindness to the dedicated service he promises to each customer, while adeptly handling real estate transactions from start to finish. Marieke Brown - Originally from the bonnie shores of Scotland, I came to the Riviera Maya in 2005 for scuba diving, and to explore the underwater cave systems. The plan was to stay here for a couple of months, to enjoy the area, and to explore some of the most incredible cave systems in the world.  I fell in love with the Riviera Maya and the people, and made my permanent home in the village of Akumal, where I live with my husband and our young kids. The quality of life that we have here is extremely high, and I feel blessed every day to be able to raise my children in such a beautiful and multicultural place.

I have been working in property rentals and now real estate for the last 8 years, and have an in-depth knowledge of the local area, and also the ins and outs of being an expat living in Mexico, and owning property here. Sarah Fouts – I am originally from Arizona, but I have been living in Mexico for over 25 years. I grew up in Sonora, moved to Guadalajara and now I call the Mayan Riviera home. I know first hand what its like to permanently relocate to Mexico and grow up as an American, adopting the Mexican lifestyle and its traditions.

I hold a Bachelors degree in Interior Design and Landscaping. I am also licensed to sell Real Estate for the State of Quintana Roo, Mexico. Being a true people person, the Real Estate industry came naturally to me as I truly enjoy helping people make their Mayan Riviera dreams come true while always looking out for my clients’ best interest.

In my down time, I enjoy completing DIY projects in my recently purchased home, discovering different beaches in the area, or simply relaxing in my palapa with my rescue dogs.
